I'm an out of state student in Florida and was wondering if the loan cap offered on the accessUVa website applied to me. My family doesn't qualify for need based aid according to FAFSA, but I'm not sure if I would qualify for the loan cap. Thanks.

I thought the loan cap at UVA was for students who were lower income. If you don’t have financial need, I can’t see how you would be eligible.

So there’s no loan cap for those who don’t meet the requirements for FAFSA? Uhg. My parents want me to pay for college myself but there’s no way I can go to an upper tier school without some sort of aid.

I’m not sure why you are worried about a loan cap. It sounds like you are going to NEED loans.

What is your FAFSA EFC? And what are your SAT or ACT scores, and GPA.

Run the net price calculator for UVA. See what your net cost will be.

If your FAFSA EFC exceeds the cost of attendance, you will not get need based aid. And you certainly won’t qualify for a loan cap at UVA.

The max loan YOU will qualify for is $5500 for your freshman year. That won’t cover the full cost of attendance anywhere. Will your parent cosign loans for you or take Parent Plus loans?

What WILL your family pay for you to attend college annually?
