I was accepted last week into the CORE LSP, however I dont' think I fully understood the the program when I had put it down on my application. (For some reason, I was under the impression that all freshman go through it first because on the CommonApp it was a freshman only option. I also was just now made aware that LSP students cannot transfer into Stern, which is ultimately where I wanted to end up.

I felt pretty sure about getting into NYU with a strong GPA, ECs, and above median SAT scores and I think I could be seriously considered as a Stern student. In my application, I even specifically mentioned interest in pursuing business. Is there anything I can do at this point?

Unfortunately not. NYU has filled all their programs to the brim at this point, and are currently configuring their decisions list. The good news is after two years, you are able to go into the School of Business. Congratulations on being accepted to LSP!!!

I read in another thread about the Liberal Studies Program that you could NOT transfer into Stern and that Stern students are only accepted as freshman. :(

actually, it is in fact possible to transfer into Stern. my sister is transferred this year as a sophomore. but, you have to have extremely good scores/essays/GPA both in HS and in your freshman year in college. it is very very hard to transfer anywhere, particularly prestigious schools like Stern.

however, transferring into Stern from LSP is not possible, at least according to NYU LSP’s site. my sister said that she had heard of one LSP student transferring into Stern, ever, but that it was extremely rare and not really an option.

your best bet, if you’re really set on Stern, is to go to a different, cheaper school for freshman year (perhaps your state school, if they gave you a good scholarship) to save money and get good grades, then apply as transfer for Stern.

bewarned though, Stern curve kicks butt hahah
