So I took the SAT 3 times and did pretty well on all tests (scored a 1320, 1350, and 1370). In the middle of this I took the ACT once to try it and scored a 26 which is much worse than any of my sat scores.
I submitted my scores to UCLA, Berkeley, and a few other schools. However, I didn’t include my ACT because it was considerably worse in my opinion. When I went to check though, I found out I accidentally asked to have my ACT scores sent to a few UC schools for free when I signed up for it. Now these schools will see I took the test but I said I didn’t in my application. What does this mean for me? I’m feeling really screwed right now.
I think you’ll be fine. The UC campuses will use your highest score from single sitting - in this case it will be from your SAT. You don’t have to self report all scores.
okay so I HAD to create a CC account just to reply because the same thing happened to me!! 1360 SAT, took the ACT just to try it and sent it to the UCs, thinking it won’t be such a bad score. Boy, was I wrong! I got a 25
The only thing that’s different in my case is that I said I will take the ACT on my application but I’m regretting it so much, I really wish I could stop those scores from getting there -_-
The applicable lesson here is don’t take advantage of free score-send. Last-minute testing before deadline not withstanding, it’s generally a bad idea to send scores out before you’ve seen them.
First be aware that all the UCs have your ACT scores not just the ones you picked to send the scores to – you are required to send scores to only one UC and all get thjem from the same file as the one and thus any UC to which you applied has both your SAT and ACT scores. As to the rule of consideration, the UCs will use that test, SAT or ACT, which has the best score to determine admission and not hold any lower scoring tests against you. However, you may have a different issue. You mention that you said in your application that you did not take the ACT test. Did youi actually say that or did you just not provide any ACT scores? If all you did was leeave blank any scores for the ACT it will mean nothing because there is really no requirement to providse scores on the app and the UCs rely on the offical scores from the testing agensiceis to actually determine admission. However, if you actually stated you did not take the ACT test, some admissions officer, if he notices the discrepancy (unlikely,) may ding you for the misrepresentation made on your application.
