I’ve searched numerous threads and found no definite answer. Anyways, I submitted my BC and Wake Forest applications on December 28, a few days before the January 1st deadline. However, today when I checked my application statuses I noticed that I never submitted my supplemental essays; I did so today but the time stamp on my supplements says January 3rd. I can’t contact the admissions offices because it is a saturday and I am freaking out because they are my top 2 schools. Can anyone tell me with certainty whether or not I will be penalized for this? Thanks.
I highly doubt anyone here will be able to tell you with absolute certainty whether you will be penalized or not. However, most colleges tend to have grace periods for late applicants, especially if they experienced technical issues with the Common Application. However, considering that it was your own personal blunder in this case, I would be careful in how you word your email to them if you decide to send one. I’m not sure whether they will forgive you simply because you forgot about the supplement. Hopefully, someone else here can provide a second opinion in addition to my own.
I would contact admissions on Monday, let them know what happened, take responsibility for your error, and mention ,that the essays were done on time but you neglected to hit the send button.
Unless a poster here works for BC or WF admissions, nobody can tell you for sure though.
Call your schools.
