For the CommonApp and my Yale supplement essay, I accidentally submitted the wrong ones, but did not realize until today. They're not totally off-topic or bad or anything, but they're not as good as the ones I meant to send. What would be the best course of action here? Should I call each school and mail them the right essay? Or is there any way to correct it?

there's pretty much nothing you can do. I don't believe schools allow you to change your essays after you've submitted. The bright side is that at least your essays are still "readable". It would have been incredibly horrible if you submitted an essay that included the name of some other university.

if your college counselors have any weight at the univ u sent em to, they can try to help ya out (one of mine did it for a girl last year who sent a wrong essay)

Just mail the school the correct essays, and call to make sure the schools use the substitute essays. Probably until close to mid Jan., schools with Jan 1 deadlines will be creating applicant folders from the thousands of applications that arrive this time of year. The committees won't start reading the regular decision applications probably until close to the end of Jan., so it won't be a big deal for you to send a substitute essay.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Once and Northstarmom, you two have given me the greatest Christmas present.

So is it necessary for me to arrange the essay mailing through my guidance counselor, or can I do it myself? It might be difficult for me to reach her before the first.
