Accompanist in Chicago?

Will there be an accompanist at the Chicago audition? My D and I were confused… in the MT audition guidelines for Unifieds it says,

“Please bring your musical accompaniment on CD OR TAPE, cued up to the beginning of the first song. We will provide the CD/ tape player, so there is no need for you to bring one unless you prefer it.”

However, it also says,

“However, we recommend that you do NOT use a song from Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years. We love the vocal lines but we have found over the years that the way the piano parts are written makes it extremely difficult for ACCOMPANISTS to follow you.”

Could anyone help clear this up? We found one post saying for certain that there is NOT an accompanist in Chicago, but that post was about 6 years ago and we wondered if the situation had changed at all.

Thanks!

There was NO accompanist at Chicago Unifieds. My d had all her accompaniments on on her Ipod, with speakers, ready to go for each school. As I remember, Otterbein was the one school where they insisted on their own person turning the ipod on, and she wasn’t familiar with how to do it, so it was a rough start . . . I recommend having tracks ready on an ipod with speakers for each school, but also having them recorded on dvd’s in case anything comes up . . .
