accomplishment prior to high school

I won a pretty good title at my state's math competition in eighth grade.. is there anywhere on the commonapp that I should mention this or should I leave it out because it's before high school?

Nope...just focus on HS.

Though if it's something really extraordinary (i.e. national spelling bee champ or something of that sort) I would suggest mentioning it somewhere in your application.

I'd have to disagree, especially if you have not followed up on that kind of success in HS. Will look like more of an under achiever....don't want that.

Agree with IsleBoy. Leave it off and just stick to high school.

similar situation - got a nice math competition win in 8th grade but since then have not done any math clubs or competitions. also C's in math and so far an F this year.

obviously it would make me look like an under achiever if i put it on the app, but is that better than looking like i just suck at math?

dont put it... seriously the competition level was lower under highschool... even a spelling Bee isnt spectacular now.

If you were in the first row of a philharmonic orchestra at that age or won an award or competed and did well with people older than you.. thats special
