I am an accountancy/CIS freshman in college looking for some advice. First, I need some help with choosing a minor in addition to the double major. Here's what I was thinking:

Minor in Communication

Minor in English

Minor in another language

Any other ideas?

Also, I was hoping I could get some advice from the CC board. What should I be doing as a freshmen (or at least in college) to get my name out there, get hired by the Big Four, go places, etc.?

To get your name out there you need to network and attend events in your business school. As far as a minor, they wont really set you apart, but they will help you. I would suggest the minor in communication since speaking is a large part of the business industry.

If I was looking to hire an Accountancy/CIS major I would look at overall GPA; in-major GPA; internships or other work experience; and how the applicant handles him/herself in the interview(s). I could care less about the minor. Choose some electives that allow you to explore potential interests and forget about getting a minor on top of 2 majors. Keep your GPA up and follow up on any opportunites to get summer work experience especially in accounting or CIS if possible.
