Accounting at Davis

Hello all,

I am interested in working towards a career in Accounting and was wondering what students at UC Davis usually do to complete the necessary accounting curriculum (since UCD only offers three accounting classes). I have been reading about the UCD Extension School being an option as well as summer session at a local CSU or community college. Is it possible to take accounting classes within the UCD Extension program at the same time as taking a normal course load at the UCD campus? If so, how hard is it to manage this?

I am planning to major in Economics with a minor in Managerial Economics. Would this seem like a good plan for a student in my situation? I have completed all the prerequisites for both the Economics and Managerial Economics majors already (Transfer student).I know there is a lot of debate about which major to choose. Since the Economics major requires less units than Managerial Economics and therefore would give me more time to complete accounting prerequisites, should I just major in Economics? Or does one major open more doors than the other?

Thanks :)

A major in economics with a minor in ME doesn’t sound awfully practical to me. Generally you are either more interested in theory (econ) or with management/business decisions (ME). Honestly, from what I have experienced, internships are more important than the actual coursework. You will learn the basics through MGT11A and 11B (requirements for managerial economics). Then go out and use the knowledge.
