Accounting Courses

I'm an accounting major. I took my first accounting course, financial accounting, online. It was a modular course, so it didn't last the whole semester.

It's not hard, but instead of the four months a typical course lasts for, our online course lasted only two months. So I couldn't get the grasp on everything as much I wanted to. I still have my book. But I wanted to know if you guys knew any websites that provided exercises and stuff so that I can study more after my course ends. Also, what software is available for me to download/buy so that I get familiar with accounting software.

Quickbooks Simple Start (both online and offline versions) are free; they have some limitations, but none that would interfere with your ability to fiddle around. Come up with a transaction and enter it once as a journal entry and once using the task-oriented QB screen (so “write checks” or “make deposits” or “create invoice”), and see if the financial statements come out the same both ways.
