Hey, what are the main differences in career chioces between getting a degree in finance or accounting? What are career possibilities in accounting, how broad are they, and does finance cover a broader range? Can an accounting degree with a CPA get you into any field that a finance major could get into? And which do you believe has the best career opportunities in the short/long run?

Thanks, I'm trying to decide which path to take and your imput will be much appreciated. I have a strong background in math, with a 790 SAT score and I am very interested in the stock market, and investments. Thanks again.

Forgot the CPA, the CFP, go straight for the CFA.

cfp and cpa are nevertheless very dynamic degrees that one could possess and still work in stocks or what not.

with a cpa you could work in many careers

if you arent going to do things with the cpa you dont really need it, meaning like a cpa firm, its a hard test and you spend a lot of time studying for it after schools over. you can major in just about anything and still get into finance. guy i work with makes nice cake and he majored in education.

well what about if I wanted to work for a CPA firm such as a big 4 for a few years for experience purposes and then branch out into the financial world. Would doing this be a smart decision, or should I just jump right into the financial world bypass accounting all together, or should I jsut stick with the accounting firm? Their are to many options and routes to go with finance/accounting it makes choosing a career path difficult. What do you all think of the CFP and CFA .. worth it? Thanks.
