Accounting for Undergraduate

If I wanted to become an accountant (which I'm not sure yet), what am I supposed to study as an undergraduate? Just pure accounting?? Because most of the schools that I applied to/looked at did not offer accounting for undergraduates. In fact, it doesn't seem like a lot of schools offer accounting for undergrads.
And I heard economics is very different from accounting....

So, for example, if I wanted to go to Harvard and become an accountant, is that impossible??

Thanks,
and sorry if this is a very stupid question.

Did you just ask that?

Did he/she JUST ask that?

Please leave and never come back.

Come on sp1212, didn’t you know everyone who wants to do accounting goes to Harvard? lmao.

You need to do your research before you ask. Look at a school’s curriculum (for example, the school(s) that you applied for), and you’ll see which courses you need to take.

Economics is obviously different from accounting. That is why it has a different name to it.

which is why i clearly stated that im sorry if its a stupid question… get a life people.

If you do not study accounting as an undergraduate, you would need to get a master’s degree in accounting. Many schools offer MS in accounting degrees for non-accounting undergrads.

I am applying to Harvard as well, and I am majoring in medicine; minoring in accounting. However, Harvard does not offer accounting. What a lot of students do is cross train at MIT and take accounting there.

Those students have investment banking in mind when they’re taking their Accounting 101. I don’t think most, if not all, of those Harvard/MIT students registering for the Accounting classes have the intention to be accountant after getting their ivy-degree.

OP states “wanted to become an accountant”, not sure if that implies to become a CPA. Keep in mind, having some training of accounting is far from having a full curriculum of accounting courses to be eligible for CPA.

You cannot major in medicine as an undergraduate at Harvard or any other college. Also, one course in accounting at MIT does not constitute a minor.
