So I am sort of faced with a dilemma right now. I have an undergraduate degree from a t-25 school in the social sciences (Sociology). As much as I loved the academic study of it, I find that my career options are somewhat limited with only a bachelor's degree and limited work experience. I could pursue a MA in the social sciences or public administration, but I fear it would be costly and I would see a very slow return on investment.

I have always been interested in accounting, especially as it pertains to auditing/investigating financial fraud. I have always enjoyed math and working with numbers and data so I think this may be something I may want to pursue.

A local community college offers a diploma program for individuals who hold a BA/BS in something other than business/econ/accounting. It is 31 credits and is comprised of 2 Business law courses and 8 Accounting courses.

If I were to pursue this program, would it hinder me in finding employment in the accounting field? Would employers look down on this?

Would graduate schools look down on a diploma program such as this? I eventually would like to go the way of a Master's program in order to get more training in Auditing/Fraud investigation before sitting for the CPA.

I just want to make sure I wouldn't be making a costly mistake.

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!
