Hey guys. I'm currently a HS senior/ college freshman in a CC - enrolled in WA's Running Start program - and I had to declare a major pretty fast. I chose Business, and right now I'm taking Accounting classes and basic Business classes.
I really like Business and I'm sure that this is what I wanna do later on, however, I have to specialize in something.
I'll be going to the University of Washington, either 2011 or 2012, and I know that Foster has a good program in Accounting, Finance and International Business - so how would you decide?
My Acct. prof has been pretty crappy and I'll probably end up with a C in his class, but I really do like Acct. so far, even though I had to teach myself most of it.
I don't know anything about Finance, so any input would be greatly appreciated.
International Business.. I heard it's a great program at Foster, and I can speak four languages - two fluently - so that might be a good idea?
I've been thinking about going to law school after my undergraduate studies as well, so maybe International Business could be more helpful?

Finance is more interesting than Accounting imo, but International Business is garbage. Don’t major in that as any business major outside of Finance, Accounting and maybe MIS/ISOM that are more quant/computer heavy is very fluffy. Finance is basically examining mathematical models that utilize principles such as the time value of money, cash flows, etc. to make decisions. Accounting is basically just preparing the financials that finance and other users use to make decisions. Depends on what you like. Finance is a riskier option as its much less likely you’ll get a good job in finance vs accounting, but unless you really, really enjoy accounting and adjusting entries, examining GAAP rules, etc. then you’ll probably like finance more. Since you said you like accounting, I’d major in that over finance though.

thank you so much for your advice
I’m gonna go for Accounting.

What about supply chain? Very little talk about that major.

^ you know, I actually never heard about that one…
