Dawgie, which do you think is worse, public accounting or internal audit? I did an internship doing internal audit this past summer, and it was pretty sucky, but if what everyone says is true, public accounting is no getaway resort either.

Accounting is no fun in general. Public accounting has many different services involved, but yes it is better than internal auditing. Auditing has the best exit opportunities and flexibility out of all accounting.

So RBP3418’s comment proved my point. Eventually, most big 4 folks end up either in the corporate world or working for government. Now, whether or not he would have landed that job without the Big 4 experience is debatable. it’s like saying “i would have never landed a position with the big 4 without graduating from a top school.”

Trust me, there are people that quit working for big 4 or even big consulting firms to work for the federal government. Why? More $, less work, less stress. No brainer. We’re talking about STABLE 6-figure income, possibly for life. Did I even mention upward mobility?

^as an unbiased bystander I don’t think so Dawgie. Go blue said earlier that most Big 4 people get laid off anyway (which RBP’s friend did) and eventually end up working for a company. That’s exactly what happened. Whether or not the Big 4 led to that job or not, nobody knows. There are many confounding variables and it’s illogical that Big 4 directly correlates to F500 afterwards. Big 4 candidates are generally better credentialed to begin with, so who is to say that a similarly credentialed person (ie good GPA, leader, etc) that chose a smaller firm for whatever reason wouldn’t get the same job? The only way to know for sure is if his boss specifically said his friend, “you only got the job because of the Big 4 name on your resume”. Until that is provided, there are too many confounding variables to say with 100% confidence that Big 4 alone = good exits. This is a case where correlation does not equal causation.

Q.E.D

YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND THE TRUTH!!!

Oh wait, wrong subject.
