I am a texas resident and hopefully by GOD'S grace I will go to McCombs or even BHP. i am interested in going into corporate finance, UT has the number one accounting program in the nation so I was wondering would it be better to major in accounting work for one of the big4(which like 80% do) and then go into the corporate world. Or should I major in finance and go that route. I ask because one day i would like to be a CFO and i hear accounting backgrounds are good, and also would working for a big4 firm help to get into a good MBA, say Harvard, UPenn or at least UT?

Well, accounting definitely can lead to becoming a CFO...a perfect example from Texas:

I think working for a Big 4 is excellent experience and can prepare you well for a top MBA program.

I have been looking online and it seems that accounting salaries are lower than finance, why is that?
