Accounting Major...

Hey guys…

I just need some feedback !

Is a degree in accounting from SDSU still valued ?

I have acceptances from SDSU , PENN STATE ALTOONA and INDIANA UNIVERSITY (kelly school of business).

Looking at the location, more college like experience , SDSU WINS.

The one and only thing I am concerned about is the job placement !

Is it gonna be tough to be hired after graduating from SDSU , a well known party school.

Any suggestions/opinions are appreciated.

Thanks - in - Advance !

I am currently a senior accounting major at SDSU and received a handful of job offers for this coming Fall, two of which were from the Big 4. Several of my classmates also have jobs lined up for after graduation. Some are going to Big 4, others are going to firms like Grant Thornton and BDO, and others are going to local firms. I’d say that SDSU’s accounting program is pretty well-regarded, at least from my experience, but you’re still going to have to put in a lot of work. I recommend joining SAS and Beta Alpha Psi (I personally wasn’t a member, but I’m told it helps).

Are you an incoming freshman?

@migman Yes , I am an international freshman student.

Oh well yeah, beginning in your junior year you should try to join those programs. I especially recommend SDSU if you want to work in San Diego, but that might be difficult for you since you’re an international student. Do you know if you’d be allowed to work in the U.S. After graduation?

@migman Yeh…I have to change my visa status… If worked hard enough, I might even achieve a sponsorship letter :0.

P.S - Hows San Diego ? The area it self ?

Have you looked the virtual tour for SDSU? http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/virtualtour/csl.html
Beautiful city, great weather, plenty of activities, beaches close by.

San Diego Trolley station on campus which can take you around San Diego, especially handy if you have not car. Student discounts for Trolley/Bus passes. Many great shopping areas along Trolley route.

Yes @Gumbymom …I have already checked that. :D.

awaiting more suggestions

Awesome! I don’t personally know a whole lot about how the whole international applicant thing works for jobs, but if you can work here I bet you’d love it.

I personally love San Diego, and most people that come here would agree. We have mild, sunny climate throughout most of the year. There’s a ton of fun things to do. I’ve been to a bunch of the major cities in the U.S. and San Diego is easily my favorite in terms of where I’d want to live. You should check it out first hand though.
