Hey Guys…
after all the research I have a list of business schools to choose from .
The list was cut down from 8 to 3.
For first ,
I am an international undergrad from INDIA and looking for a school with the best collegiate experience ,i.e, academics , party , job placement ,etc.
The schools are : -
PENN STATE ALTOONA (2 years in Altoona then 2 years in University Park)
Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis {IUPUI} (Indirect to Kelly School of Business with $7000 off every year)
San Diego State University ( I like the party scene here and after college placement is decent)
The above colleges have many things in common which makes me THINK …
So guys…Please help this child to choose which school is the best for ACCOUNTING as thats my major .
Thanks - in - Advance
P.S - Cost doesn’t play an important factor in my case…so don’t quote bout them.
@mrAccountant You have to give people time to respond here.
Actually, here is a great site. It grades everything from about the campus, About academics, about social life, about the area, etc. All written by students. After a few views you have to sign in. But, their is no cost.
@MrAccountant I was at Altoona today taking my son on a tour (he’s a high school junior - my daughter is at main campus of PSU). While I was there, we had a very nice tour guide named Adi. He is an international student from India and he is in his second year at Altoona majoring in business. I told him about your messages on this site, and he said he’d be happy to talk with you to let you know how the campus is for international students. He is the head of an international students diversity club as well. If you’d be interested in talking with him, let me know and I can PM you his name, e mail and phone.
I think at this point you’re the only one that can decide. But I’l tell you that the reason my son chose PSU for accounting is because of their MAcc program. It’s a five year program where he will graduate with his masters in accounting. It’s very competitive to get in. I believe he needs between a 3.7 and 3.8 gpa to get accepted. You apply for it at the same time he declares a major which is spring semester of sophomore year. There are only 120 spots available but when you graduate you can sit for your CPA exam. His friends who did the program at PSU have amazing jobs. @MrAccountant
@MrAccountant Like japsmom said. At this point its up to you. If you like warm sunny weather year round. Then San Diego is your pick. If you like all 4 seasons…including cold & snowy winters. Then PSU is your choice. If weather is not a factor. Then do you want to be in a city or rural? Only you can answer these. Good luck.
@MrAccountant Whoops…I meant to do you want to live and go to college in a city or rural? If you want to go to school in a city…Then San Diego. If you want to go to school in a rural area. Then PSU is your choice.
@MrAccountant Even though PSU main is in a rural area, most students end up working in a city. Two of my sons friends who did the MAcc at PSU are working for a big 4 in Philadelphia and one is in NYC. All three had jobs 6 months before they graduated. Going to school in a rural area does not mean you will be working in a rural area.
@japsmom Thanks alot PSU is seeking more attention to me than SDSU…after all this decisions…the BIGGEST problem would be to get a company which sponsor visa to International Student
@arc918 who said I will directly work for Big 4 right after graduating … Maybe when I graduate…I will apply for OPT which will give me one year to work + on campus internships ( before OPT, 20hrs/week ) , a GOOD GPA should be able to crack it :D.
