Hey everyone!
Congrats to everyone who has been admitted and best of luck to everyone who is still waiting on a response!
Anyway, I recently got accepted into Cal Poly Pomona and I’m planning on majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. I was wondering how the program is at the School. Is it worth skipping cal poly pomona and just accept admission at Cal State Fullerton? Any insight into the program at cal poly pomona would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!
if your going for accounting I read somewhere that Fullerton has one of the best accounting programs in the country. Look into it
I’m a current accounting student at Cal Poly, Pomona and so far I can say my accounting classes have been very challenging. I think this is a good thing. There have been many opportunities as far as jobs and internships go, though I’ve yet to do either. I’ve never attended CSU Fullerton, but this is how I see it–as long as you get good grades and get involved in school activities such as clubs and volunteer work, then I am sure you will be fine, regardless of which CSU you decide to attend. Good luck!
One thing that you might want to consider is that CPP is scheduled on a quarter and CSF is scheduled on a semester. Some people prefer a slower pace with two longer semester and a summer session, meaning less classes per year, less finals, and less battling registration. Some student, like myself, prefer a faster pace and get tired of the same class after 10 weeks. I like having a larger variety of classes taken over a shorter duration, but a midterm at 5 weeks and a final at 10 weeks three times a year (four if you take summer classes) is not for everyone, especially if you are working or are inclined to procrastinate. I’m not trying to sway you either way, just something to consider. :-*
CPP is switching to a semester schedule in 2017. Something to think about if you will be attending for 2 years when they plan to switch.
All CSUs are switching to a semester system. Some have already started the transition.
wow the quarter system is one of the reasons i chose ccp
@Gumbymom I think that the switch from quarter to semester has been delayed. The process has started but the CPP website says that the first semester classes will be offered Fall 2018. @MissGish if you happen to be a transfer student and are able to finish in two years you should be unaffected.
Also heard that SLO is fighting the switch and as of now has no plans to change from the quarter system. @discdogger thank you for the update.
