Accounting Question- Need help

I have a question for anybody who can answer it. I'm an accounting major at the University of Missouri. I heard from someone that if you graduate with less than a 3.0, firms will not hire you. Is that true? I have a 3.0 right now but I'm getting a little scared because I heard that.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be a big deal once you get your CPA

FutureCPA, there is no question that many firms want at least a 3.0 overall and especially a 3.0 in accounting. This is particularly true for larger accounting firms and for government jobs. Thus, with less than a 3.0 GPA in accounting, you will foreclose yourself from a number of opportunities. I won’t lie to you about that.

HOWEVER, with that said, there are many firms and corporations that will hire you IF you have a strong interview. This means that you look good, have a good personality, and seem to fit into their culture, which means that they like you. My son had about a 3.1 GPA in accounting ( barely) and got several job offers. However, he has a great outgoing personality.
