I am attending the University of Washington which has a top 10 program in accounting for undergraduates. I currently have a 3.8+ GPA (Sophomore) and am considering accounting as a major (as well as finance and economics). My goal is to eventually get into a top MBA school (I know this depends on work experience and GMATs and such as well, but just wondering about majors). Is accounting really a good choice of major if I want to get into a good B School and work on Wall Street eventually? Thanks for any advice.

If you double in Finance then you should be fine. Accounting is typically the toughest business degree at the undergraduate level so if anything it shows that you can cut it academically. Now what you do with your degree is probably more important. I read somewhere that only between 2%-5% of all top b-school students are from accounting backgrounds. Don’t quote me on that but I definitely remember reading it somewhere. Either way its not too common for an accountant to make the leap as it would be for one from a marketing or financial background.
