accounting vs engineering.

hi all
so after the discussion in CC had the last couple days I am kind of interested in knowing more about this major >>accounting.
I thought before that it is like economics, finance but I found out it is different :) I know ...take a deep breath and don't start sayin **** about me :D ,any 1 could do that ...

so what can you tell me about it??
some 1 in the last topic said that it does not matter where you do your accounting undergraduate ,just get high scores and you will be employed, correct???
and why accounting is considered as a comparison with engineering basically ??
salaries ,this strong word the entire world talks about...what about it in both fields??

of course I am not gonna choose accounting instead of engineering because I am in love with Electrical engineering and not gonna sacrifice with any other thing, but I just want to make everything clear before starting my classes.

If you want a better answer about what all an accountant does, you may try asking the guys at the business forums. To we engineers, they are just bean counters.

Accounting World that I know:

Accountant aka accounting stuff that I know is: sitting behind the desk crunching debit/credit and doing month-end and year-end stuff.

Another thing I know about accounting firm: long time ago, moons ago, there was a company namely Arthur Andersen & Co…and apparantly they all were crooks disguised in sheep clothing. And they all got caught red handed…and govt did not like them and shut them down.

Another person that I know doing accounting is: could not get a intern or job at Big Five Accounting Firm but finally after looking for any job then ended up doing accounting 101 at a local TV…the job is alright as it pays the bills. And hopefully in the next ten years if the old lady (the accounting manager in that tv station) is retired then that person can get her job. That’s the only way to move up? who knows…

Well, that is all about accounting and its world that I know. I hope it helps what you are looking for.
