I am transferring with an Associates Degree in Business Administration this Fall 2010, with as of now a 3.3 GPA. I want to major in Finance, and have already applied to Cuny Baruch and did not get accepted. I have applied to Pace University, LIU - C.W.Post, Marist, and New Paltz. They all have accepted me, now Pace is expensive as hell and not worth it. LIU-C.W.Post is 15 mins away from me and about half the price as Pace. Marist is the same as Post. and New Paltz is dirt cheap. One thing I did notice though is that everyone is accredited in business (AACSB) except New Paltz. If I end up doing to New Paltz because of price will them not having a accreditation in business hurt me when I go looking for a job?? How important do you believe accreditation is??

I don’t really know the answer…all I can offer is that one of my son’s housemates is a business major at New Paltz and he got a great paid internship this past summer at one of the major TV stations in Manhattan. I don’t think his options will be limited at all.

AACSB isn’t that important at the undergrad level. In fact, Harvard, Yale, Stanford and most other elite schools only hold the accreditation at the graduate level.

According to the New Paltz website, they’re on pace to obtain AACSB accreditation within the next three years. So if you complete your bachelors during the semester when they obtain the accreditation, your degree will be considered AACSB accredited as well.

Thanks for the answers, its also coming down to who’s taking more credits towards my degree since I just found out C. W. Post is taking 72 credits and now I’m waiting for Marist and New Paltz
