Accumulated GPA

Do high schools calculate accumulated GPA based on each term GPA or each semester GPA or final GPA of each year from freshman through junior?

Our high school calculates it once at the end of each year and then in December for seniors and again at the end of senior year to determine val and sal. I doubt that all schools do this the same way.

The final GPA (at my school) is calculated using the semester averages from every class, freshman-senior years, corrolated to an appropriate scale (4 pts, 5 pts, 6 pts etc). My school runs out GPA's every single semester starting in January of freshman year, but officially the counselors are not supposed to tell us our GPA's until the end of sophomore year

We get a preliminary GPA/class rank in August before senior year starts = incorporates all 3 years. Then, final class rank/GPA in January after all grades are in for 1st semester of senior year. It doesn't count after that.

Ours does it the same way as Kathiep's school...GPA's are calculated at the end of each school year and again at the end of the first semester of the senior year to determine val and sal.
