ACE Program?

Hi everyone! I was sent the email to apply to the ACE program but am wondering if it is worth applying for. I am a good student but do not want to get overwhelmed with hard classes my freshman year and want to have time to enjoy college life. What are the benefits of the program? Is it worth my time or is it for the students who study all weekend? Is it really hard? All the other threads talk about stats to get in but I am wondering what the program is about. Thank you!!

There’s not really any downside to ACE. During either your first or second semester (you get to choose), you will take honors business presentations (C106) and honors computer in business (K204). The honors versions are very similar to the regular versions, which you would have to take anyway. The honors versions have much better grade distributions. That’s probably mostly because the honors classes attract higher-caliber students, but the class content is very similar. The classes will require some time, but they are manageable and you’ll have plenty of time to do stuff other than studying.

The whole point of ACE is that you automatically get into business honors after your freshman year. Business honors allows you to take any honors class in Kelley, but you aren’t required to take any if you don’t want to. The honors classes usually have good professors and are sometimes better than the regular versions. Business honors students also take honors I-Core, which grades easier than regular I-Core and is a better experience overall. You’ll get to make friends with some other people in ACE, and it’s overall a good program with minimal requirements other than taking the two honors classes and going to a few events throughout the year.

Thank you so much! All of that information is super helpful!!! @iubaccounting

@elisabeth7 you really should apply. My D is a Freshman in Kelley this year and was invited to apply to ACE and she got in. When she went for Orientation she really appreciated sitting in a room with her advisor and getting 1:1 help registering/choosing classes. She didn’t quite appreciate it until she walked by the rooms with 25 or 30 students registering for classes with only a few advisors to help. She also now is appreciating not having to apply to Kelley Honors. As long as you meet the GPA requirement you are in. No downside to applying. If you are smart enough to be invited to apply you will be fine in the Honors sections of the classes. Good Luck!
