ACP anyone?

going there next year for pre-med or pharmacy... wondering if anyone knows what the general student pop is like. or at any small pharmacy school. 200 enter each class and like 100 graduate, so that kinda gives me the image that ppl arent too smart. idk tho.

what is ACP?

albany college of pharmacy

i got in, but i will not be going. the reason why there's such a high attrition rate is that a lot of people realize that pharmacy isn't the right path for them, or that they do not want to pursue pharmacy right now (as opposed to a boarder liberal arts education) so they transfer

i got a really positive feeling from the school when i visited, good choice!

I'd Really like to go there, what was your GPA/SAT and how much/what kinda of financial aid did you get?

thank you!

95 unweighted gpa, 1910 sat, will pay about 9000 a year-- didnt get any financial aid-- just merit award

sweet like sugar, what scholarships did you get?

i received 8500 a year (6 years) with a 97 uw gpa, 2140 sat, and no need based finaid

Oh My God!

sweet like sugar, What kinda of extra stuff did you do? and could you put all of your stats (extra stuff, anything else that might have been a hook)

Did you do early decision? and what do you think made you get so much?

Thank you so much! :) This'll really help me :)

Oh and what is the union scholarship? (sorry, I couldn't edit my post and sorry that I kinda took over your thread :( )

Hey does anyone know if ACP students are allowed to do sports through Union?

"All our full-time students are eligible to play on an ACP athletic team. The College offers men's and women's intercollegiate competition in soccer and basketball, with the men's soccer and women's basketball teams winning conference championships in 2005-06. Students also can get involved in a variety of intramural activities, including basketball, karate, Ultimate Frisbee and volleyball.

Our students also are eligible to participate in Union College athletic programs that are not offered at ACP. Union offers NCAA ACP three-peats in '05-'06 as NIC champion.

Division I men's hockey and a full range of

NCAA Division III sports, including football, lacrosse, softball, baseball, swimming and

track."

I'm so sorry I kinda took over your thread =(

haha wow I dont see crew there but I know that union college has a crew team. Does anyone know if I could go to ACP and row on Union Crew.

you could prob do that, i want to do tennis through union. dont know how hard it is to get on the union team though. union college and acp are under union university.

i took 8 ap courses, got an ap scholar with honors award, many other awards which i dont feel like writing down, i did summer research programs, was model un president, key club editor/secretary, varsity tennis, i did well on my sat ii's (700's), i did well on my regents exams (mostly high 90's), can speak 3 other languages... i did regular decision and sent my app over a month late actually. the only bad part of my app that i see is the verbal section of the SAT.

dont remember which scholarships i got, but union college offered me much more money (would have cost 4,000 a year)... they gave me need based aid though. i chose acp because its stronger in the sciences. acp gives worse scholarships b/c of low endowments. advice to anyone who wants to go there... get good grades and good sat scores... the rest is just fluff. i had no hook.

does anyone know if we can graduate early from acp? meaning 5 years rather than 6? (i have ap/college credit) are any of you going this upcming year to acp?

thanks for replying! :) I was kinda scared that you weren't gonna come on again haha

and I know that if you do 2 years of prepharm in another school, then get EXCELLENT grades (like 3.9 GPA/99 PCAT) then you can transfer into ACP and into their accelerated PharmD program, which is a year-round program that you finish with in 3 years, so you've spent 5 years altogether

I think that MAYBE you could stay year-round and get the 0-6 program done in 5 years too, but I'm purely guessing on that, that would be a good question to ask them though

ohh, I saw in your other post way back that you got the presidential scholarship from ACP and then another "union scholarship" what is that? is it from like ... a union? or is it like a scholarship that is offered to people who are going to a school under union university? or is it something else? haha

ACP really is my first choice and I'm going to ED there ... so I really wanna know about all the scholarships available :)

union college only gives the union scholarship. i didnt know what scholarships acp had... but they dont have that many. theres the presidential scholarship and deans scholarship and trustee scholarship. there are some other pharmacy scholarships you can apply for after the 1st year. they have them listed on their website... on the course catalog.

Ohh... wait can you get the union scholarship even if you're going to ACP?
cause in one of your earlier post you said that you got the presidential and the union scholarship ...

I'm just REALLY curious as to how you got sooo much $ that you're only paying 9k a year

union college had the presidential scholarship and union scholarship... only union. but acp had the presidential scholarship, deans scholarship, trustee scholarship and others i cant remember. i didnt look at the fin aid so carefully.

Oh ... but how are you paying only 9k a year? you said it's because of all of the scholarships you got...

were all of those scholarships from ACP? or were they also from outside resources?

would I, or any other person planning on going to ACP for that matter, be able to apply for the same scholarships? and possibly be able to pay only 9k as well?

the best thing to do is just call them. THey're all really helpful and they'll do everything they can to answer all your questions.

Wow I just called them and they said that the presidential scholarship for people going to ACP this year was 5k ... and the dean's was 3k

????

and they also said that you needed like a 1240 SATs and most people had a 96 GPA to even be Considered for the Dean's, let alone the presidential...

anyone else kinda confused?

A lot of you tell me that you got the presidential which was 10k, but the person told me that it was 5k ...

I'm sooo confused haha

oh and sweet like sugar, I know this is a lot to ask for, but could you please look at what scholarships you got from them?

are you paying 9k only because of the scholarship money you got from ACP??? Thanks!
