Act: 25

Anyone heard of anyone getting into USC with a 25 or less or lets say a 1750 or less on their SAT. I would love to apply to USC and just see what happens but i would love to know of some stories that could keep my hope alive!

Thanks guys.

Here's a discussion about low GPA but still somewhat appropriate-

You just really never know. If you have a hook, it could outweigh your test scores.

thanks. anyone else bump

I got a 24 on the ACT and a 1680 (one sitting) on SAT... I got in.

ForeverA,

What was your gpa? rank?

Did you have an amazing hook?

is CLAS the easiest school to get into out of all of the schools?

if not which is?

yes, CLAS is the easiest.

You might get in with low scores, as long as you have something else. What is your GPA, and extra activities? You need to tell us your whole story to get an accurate chances thread.

bump(10char)

i think you have a very fair shot. Especially depending on how well you do this year.

would anyone else like to comment?

Oh hey again Canes, to answer your question, I had a 4.0 (W) and 3.8 (UW) GPA. No rank but around 65/800. No amazing hooks. Plus, I only took 2 AP's senior year. Involved in several clubs and president of one.. nothing too exciting. However, I had pretty good essays. :) I think if you have really good recs and essays, you have a pretty decent shot.

so i have a question. I am planning on applying to CLAS. Do you need so specify what you want your major to be within CLAS. If so i am looking at international relations or economics. Does it matter which one i decide to apply to? Is one far supior to the other (way tougher to get into)?

Anyone have any insight?

thank you.

When you chose a major in CLAS, you are evaluated only on the standards for CLAS, regardless of the major. However, choosing your major within CLAS can have an affect on your acceptance in this example: if you have a strong hook, ec, or leadership in a particular major (say you apply for Economics and you worked with a local university on some related research; or maybe you were in a leadership position in an International Relations organization), you can use that in an essay to show your passion.

One more thing- you said you had an excellent upward trend for your GPA. Here's a quote from the admission page:
"Naturally, we are interested in consistently strong academic performance throughout your four-year high school record. However, we realize that some bright students, for one reason or another, don't always get off to a great start in ninth grade. In these cases, special attention is given to steady and substantial improvement throughout the sophomore, junior and senior years."

Another thing you have going for you is your persistance! I mean that in a good way. :)

Go ahead and apply. If you retake the ACT or SAT, it can only help you. I think you have much better than a 50% chance.
