Act: 25

Most of the colleges i am looking at are listed like so on collegeboard.com:

Middle 50% of
First-Year Students

ACT Composite: 23 - 28

Assuming my GPA is good (which it is) and scoring a 25 of the ACT (plus great ECs, recs, essays) does this make me a match at these type of schools? Is a 25 fine/good?

thanks.

---the schools for example are:
--Santa Clara
--LMU
--Pepperdine
--U of Washington (is state)
--Northestern
--Boston U

not for BU, pepperdine, or washington, IMHO.

Well, a 25 really isn’t “good” for those schools, but it doesn’t make you not a candidate for admission. I would say that regardless of the other parts of your application, you should be in at half of those. If you find yourself in the middle of the 25/75 percentile range, a rule of thumb is that you have a 1/2 chance of being admitted. That’s probably a little conservative, but that way you don’t get any false hope.

Univ. of Washington is very highly regarded and quite competitive. Santa Clara is a wonderful school. Loyola Marymount has an excellent film program. With a well written application, you have a good chance at each of these schools. Good luck! Pepperdine, Northeastern and Boston University are also possible options for you. Overall, Univ. of Washington, even as an in-state applicant, may be the hardest, with Pepperdine next.

HALF. yes half on the graduating class from last year and the year before from my high school have attended UW. Meaning 150/300 each year. I feel that that really like my school considering we are top 50 public school in the nation. I am hoping this helps of course.

btw i am a legacy at northeastern, will that help my mom went there.

thanks for the replies.
