ACT 30-31 good enough for Yale

Hello:

Google academic index calculator and figure out what your AI is.

Then try to find what the average AI for Yale is. You need to be no lower than one standard deviation to have a shot. Some sports you can go even lower (like football) because of a banding system.

Other Ivy sports don’t use bands and if your AI is not high enough then forget it. Your legacy status doesn’t really help with athletic recruiting. So there really won’t be more lenience for you on this. Retake the ACT or try the new SAT.

Yor best source of info is the coach. Ask direct questions. If you sustain interest until the late summer then you will be offered an official visit. Ask for a pre-read. If you pass this then in Oct you will be getting a likely letter.

The athletic recruit sub here has some folks with good knowledge. Good luck.

@amy989 Thank you for your information about your experience. My coach said exactly what you said as he said to keep taking to other coaches and keep your options available

It sounds like you are dealing with a pretty honest coach. Good luck!

@lostaccount Yet, they did. :slight_smile:

@johnishappylol

You are completely missing the point and I think @lostaccount didn’t state it quite right. If you have an ACT of 29 and an SAT of 2350, the school will completely ignore the 29 and only use the 2350 for admission purposes. Only one standardized test is required, and schools will always use the one that is better and throw the other away as if you never took it.
