Hi - I got a 27 the first time I took the ACT, and a 30 the second. I will be taking it again in October. Here are my stats for both tests:

ACT Comp 27:
English: 28
Math: 27
Reading: 26
Science: 25

ACT Comp 30:
English: 31
Math: 31
Science: 30 (I know, much much better than first).
Reading: 27

O.k, so my reading is lacking in both testsmainly due to lack of time. The questions just don't seem hard when I'm taking it, so I don't know why it's not higher. Both times I took it, I had 5 minutes left as soon as I started the 4th passage, which I probably did worst on. I really don't want that to happen in October, so what's the best way you think I can get a 30+ in October?

In Science, I'm very afraid that I'll go lower when I take it again. I think getting a 30 the second time made me think I'm prepared for it in October, but that's probably not the case. Any suggestions on how to get into the high 30's on it?

In Math, I really expected higher. I consider myself talented in both Math and English, and I know it IS possible for me to get an very high score in both. The questions I usually guess on are the ones that don't ordinarily show up on practice tests. For Math, if anyone has any suggestions on the way I should look at questions, please feel free to post, but I think that's a harder one to make suggestions on.

In English, I find myself debating sometimes if the comma belongs there or not. Whether it's there or not, it makes sense to me when I read it, so I struggle to find which one is approproate. Any suggestions on that? I'm not talking about the basic comma mistake that everybody can identify. Also, if anyone has suggestions on other areas of Enlgish where it's difficult to decide between two very close choices, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm really counting on English and Math to secure myself a higher score this time, but I hope the Science and Reading don't make it impossible to get in the high 30's. My hope is for a minimum of a 33 or 34.

Thanks for any suggestions or comments. Since my questions are general, I'm sure any suggestions posted will also help others that have questions about each section.

Thanks again :)
