definitely the SAT, though the ACT is quite good also. I think it'd be fine to send them both in.

according to this score conversion chart... [SAT-ACT Conversion chart

32 ACT = 1410-1450 SAT (or 2130 total)

and colleges really dont care about the ACT writing section, it doesn't affect your score

SAT, submit both though because they are so strong.

I think they're actually very similar scores, but the your SAT score might have a slight edge.

The scores are very similar as has been said. Different colleges use differing conversion charts, so it may be in your best interest to submit both of the tests. And having 2 good scores can only help, not hurt.

ok cool, so from what i can tell my SAT is equivallent to about a 33 or 34 on the ACT. Thanks guys.

Also, im planning to take the SAT again and plan to score a bit higher(no review the last time). If my SAT ends up being a good bit higher than my ACT, should i still send them both in.

sidenote: Talking about some people being SAT people and some being ACT people.....

ACT 32-- Many many practice tests, review, good breakfast, took it 5 times

SAT 1490/2180-- No practice questions at all, no review, little sleep night before, took it twice

Just thought that last bit was kind of interesting.

Good for you!

Your SAT is more like a low 33. It isnt high enough to be considered a 34.
I believe that a 33 should correspond to a 2190.

If you score significantly higher on the SAT, like a 2250+, then there is no point in sending in the ACT. It would just waste your money.

i just found a few act/sat convertion tables:

This one from the princeton review says its a high 33

"34
1510-1550
2260

33
1460-1500
2190"

I guess this one would make it a low 34. I believe the sat scores in between go to the higher act.

"36 1600
35 1580
34 1520
33 1470
32 1420
31 1380 "

Another one i found from eurekareview.com puts me at around a 32.

"2220 33
2160 32"

i also found many other conversion tables. Most put it as a mid to high 33. Some a 32, some a 34.

is there any standard conversion table? if so could someone link it or give the source
thanks

The SAT and the ACT website have both recently posted the latest and most "official" charts. It is a "concordance" chart for the ACT to SAT 1600 and a "relationship" chart for the ACT to SAT 2400 -- the distinction will matter to statisticians, but no one else. The ACT web site has more details, since they took the lead in developing these new charts.

when you take your SAT again, really really focus on your essay, cause from what i can tell, that's the only thing holding you back from a >2200...

also, remember that each point higher on the essay gets you 20 points on the overall writing section, so if you had gotten say, a 10 on your essay, your score would've been 2240, which is very respectable...

so just keep doing practice essays till you can whip one out like nobody's business :)
