I'm not prepared for the Sept ACT and wondering if I should retake or just use my score.

I'm not prepared for the Sept ACT and wondering if I should retake or just use my score.

Is 33 good enough??

No it isn't.
Brown automatically rejects every applicant whose score isn't 36.

Ha ha. There aren't enough 36's out there to fill the Brown class if all of them applied only there.

33 is good enough. Look at the middle 50 percent range. (Last time I looked it was 29 to 32, but that was when my daughter was applying and she is a sophomore at Brown now.) It is, of course, no guarantee. It is high enough to be considered; whether you get in is up to the rest of the application.

Brown, I've heard, looks at the subscores. What is your range? My daughter had a 30 and got in on RD; the two subscores that would bear on her ability in her chosen field averaged 33.

That said, there is no disadvantage to retaking the exam other than the money and time. As you undoubtedly realize, the ACT has score choice. But isn't it too late to sign up for the September test anyway?

33 is like 75th %ile for accepted applicants...but I heard that Brown cares more about "personality" than test scores.

They care a lot about the "why brown" essay question for example..and if you do well on that, even with like a 30 ACT...you should have a good chance.
