ACT 36 Congratulations Letter

So apparently when you get a 36 on the ACT, the company sends you a congratulations letter with the web address of a site that contains a press release for you to send to local media about your score. Now, I've met some pretty vain people here on CC, but even then I cannot imagine anyone who would actually send out the press form. Does anyone use it for its intended purpose, and if so is it just a marketing ploy for ACT, Inc. to get free local publicity?

Probably.

Given the articles that I’ve seen about people getting 36’s, I assume that some people do send it. I sure didn’t, though.

The only people I’ve sent it to is my friends so they could get a good laugh. :P

Yeah, it would be cocky to send out that press release. I’m just gonna keep my letter to myself. Great job, you two!
Btw, BMittman, do you go to Arcadia high?

Glad someone else made a topic like this… I was so confused with my letter. Mine said something like “CC: Principal/Head of (my high school)” which sort of scared me. I was afraid I was actually going to have to talk to her! Thankfully I haven’t been called in or anything, considering it’s Summer.

Anyways, if you decide to send it out, send the Spanish version, just to mess with people :P

If you live in an area where 36ers are not rare, the press may not even be interested.

If I got a 36 ( a long shot, I know), I would release it to the media. My school is considered pretty ghetto; I know that rich parents would be surprised and would even think “how can a kid from a ghetto school get a 36 on the ACT?”. This would really disprove the myth that a “ghetto” school is bad for your child- a myth that’s really annoying for me to listen to.

^It wouldn’t disprove any myth. Just because one student scores high on a standardized test, doesn’t mean the entire school could.

It sends out the message though- words are the new weapons of the 21st century.

Besides, I’ve already changed opinions by becoming an ISEF finalist- and there’s more to come. :)

Just to clarify, is this for a composite 36? Or a perfect score?

I’m certainly not sending a press release out, but having the letter could be neat.

That’s awesome - congrats! And yeah, it’s probably a marketing ploy, but there are a lot of news stories about perfect scorers, so it does happen.
