Anyone here get into HYPSM/little ivies (liberal arts) with only submitting ACT scores versus SAT? Just curious... You don't often here where top ACT scorers who used that score as their primary score go.. I'm just interested...

a friend who had a 33 got into dartmouth, cornell, and columbia with just act

Did your friend take the SAT reasoning at all?

i know a guy who got into upenn with just his ACT score.

good to know :] i got a 33 on the ACT but a 2020 on the SAT, though i still think i'll send the reports just so some of my subject test scores can help me with placement, etc.

im sending my act, 33
instead of my SAT 2200 or 2220 something like that i honestly dont remember
about 2200 anyway because my section scores are more even on the ACT, all 33s except science, 35, as opposed to SAT which was like super high in math, okay in writing, lower in CR.

Intriguing... I hope you don't mind if I BUMP this... where you applying dietcoke14?

im applying.. well this is a tentative list

yale SCEA (NOT my first choice! omg my dad is making me apply)
northwestern (first choice)
wash u
maybe u chicago
Johns hopkins
brown
u penn
macalester
perhaps rice?

plus, i think ACT scores are less common esp. on the coasts, which puts you at an advantage over the super super scores for the SAT that people have

like yale's SAT medians are WAY higher
than ACT median. the yale rep said over 30 is good.. lol

k i forgot like 3

u mich ann arbor
usc
UCBerkley maybe

Pshhh. I wish they would just look at one's IQ! :D

I scored in the 30's on reading, English, and science. But due to apathy, my math score was very low (15).

dietcoke, I think your SAT score might actually be a tad higher than your ACT. (I think a 33 converts to around 2190-2200 ish.)

No, a 33 ACT is equivalent to 2220.

yea.. i dont really know..
but my ACT just seems more even among all subjects.
plus, some schools im applying to superscore, and then i have a solid 35..

Very few schools superscore ACT (more superscore SAT than ACT).

Most kids around here use ACT only & get into ivies with their ACT scores. It doesn't matter which test you take. The reason it seems like ACT isn't preferable is because ivies/"elites" tend to be in the east, where SAT is the test of choice. In the midwest, ACT has long been the test of choice & students have no problems using that score only.
