Hello,

I really really want to go to NYU [CAS]

problem is, my SAT score is 1600/2400

but my ACT score is 30

NYU will see the SAT score regardless of what I do

the question is, should I get a 30+ on the ACT or prep more for the SAT?

because i performed badly on one and decent on the other, will it discriminate against me?

is it a good idea to take both of them and do well in both?

thanks!

I think colleges are supposed to consider the higher of the two scores, but a 30 vs a 1600 does look kind of suspicious. I'd improve the SAT score. 30 is pretty good already. Good luck!

ACT and SAT scores are reported separately, so unless you're submitting SAT II scores, then they wouldn't see your SAT score.

The SAT is more about tricks than the ACT, so if you can learn your way around the tricks, you could improve the score quite a bit. If you didn't already practice with the official tests, definitely get those, and also get Cracking the SAT because it has the best techniques for beating the SAT's traps. The practice tests are also pretty good.

thanks! but I will be submitting SAT II scores, thats the problem.

also, I really don't want to retake the SAT

my question was, should I? is it recommended? they take ONE OF THEM,
will I be competent? like if there is a student with the SAME stats, has a 30 ACT score, is that the same as me? I have a 30 ACT score, but ****ty SAT.
