A lot of people in this community flaunt both high ACT and SAT I scores. Chances threads are flooded with I have a "ACT: 34+, SAT: 2200+" posts. Does receiving high scores on both tests help an application? Does the admissions officer look at the applicant and say "ooo look, this person beasted not one, but TWO standardized tests!"

Say there is a student with a 35 ACT and a 2000 SAT. Another student with a 35 ACT and a 2250 SAT. When the admissions officer compares the two's scores, is the one with the higher SAT better? or are they seen as equal?

Many people on this site claim that admissions officers look at the highest score. But is it not human nature to look at the example I gave above, and look more favorably upon the student who scored higher on both standardized tests?

I've read that many colleges consider the highest scores of whatever test you send them, so someone with a 35 ACT and 2250 SAT would be slightly better than a 35 ACT and 2000 SAT.

I doubt it makes any significant difference. "We consider your best scores" means the college considers your highest score without regard to brand name, and I have no reason to believe that having both brands in your file is more meaningful than having just one brand. Much better use of your time might be to do more community service or something like that.

True up to a point. But, once you have aced the SAT or ACT, then go ace some Subject Tests. Even colleges that don't require them can be impressed with a bunch of 700's, much more so than taking the SAT after scoring a 34 on the ACT.
