I recently got back my ACT. The writing and math were decent, however the reading and science was not pretty. Will USNA combine scores from different tests to make up "score".
For example, combining my highest ACT writing and math scores and my highest SAT reading score.

Yes, USNA combines whatever is thr highest score to make the best possible combined score.

unless they are changing it for this upcoming application year (those applying to the class of 2013) they don't look at anything aside from your english (not the writing section) and math scores. for example say your scores were as follows

ACT in June: Math 31 Science 25 English 26 Reading 26
ACT in October: Math 29 Science 26 English 30 Reading 27

The score the academy would see would be a 31 Math, 30 English.

If you did much better in the SAT math section as compared to the ACT, they also have a formula to derive your best possible score.

TAKE IT AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE!!!

Thanks for the info. Scuba, those were my exact scores for math and English! Really hope they don't change the system. When will I be able to login to the CIS?

if those are your scores I wouldn't stress the application process too much. just make sure you are well rounded and athletic and you should be fine. also do everything EARLY. it looks much better to the academy as well as to your congressman and senators if everything is turned in a bit early.

so yeah go ahead and take the ACT a few more times if you want. I had a 32 in both english and math and got an LOA in november and an appointment in early january so those scores will work.

and about the CIS... no idea. I finished my application by the first or second week of august last year. I do remember a couple of guys coming into NASS saying they had already started their applications so I would assume fairy soon. just check every so often. honestly though as long as you get your application done in a relatively timely manner and you have sports and leadership positions and KEEP UP YOUR GRADES you will be fine.
