ACT and SAT

Sorry if this is the wrong category to be posting this question.
I’m taking the ACT in June and I was just wondering is there any benefit at all to taking both the SAT and ACT? I mean the SAT is remarkably harder and it takes more time and studying, so does it pay off? PS: I don’t plan on attending an Ivy League but hopefully UT AUSTIN?

The SAT isn’t remarkably harder, they’re very comparable tests. If you haven’t received any scores yet, I’d recommend taking both because some people do a lot better on one (I have a friend that got a 28 on the ACT but a 2260 on the SAT).

I would take both. I got a MUCH better score on the ACT than the SAT. Especially considering you’re not shooting for the Ivy League, where they require that you send ALL test scores from every test you’ve ever taken. So why not try for both, right? Good luck!

Ive taken both. Personally i think the SAT is a lot harder than the ACT. As similar as they are, the no calculator section on the SAT kills my score every time. On the april SAT i scored an 1170, and in my practice ACT tests ive been scoring 28s and 29s, which is better, if you convert the scores. I think everyone should take both tests at least twice just to see what you can score and then figure out which one youre better at.

Im taking both the June SAT and ACT–hope we all get our desired scores!

Everyone seems to have differing opinions on which test is harder, so I’ll give my opinion.
English/grammar: For me, the act grammar section (english) was more difficult than the sat grammar section.
I got a 35 first time, 34 second
Mathematics: In general, act math is easier. (highly subjective) I got a 36 both times
Reading: For me, the sat reading (CR) was significantly easier than the ACT reading section, which I find to be quite difficult due to the time limit ( but I know many who score very high in reading, and it is statistically the easiest section). I got a 29 on this section the first try and got a 32 the second
Science: This is statistically the hardest section on the act. The sat does not have this section. It is mostly difficult due to the way people tend to approach it. There is simply not enough time to read all 7 passages. I skip strait to the questions. I got a 34 on this section on my second try and a 32 the first
So why did I take the act over the sat?
School offered the act for free

I took the ACT twice actually and my composite score wasn’t that high. Plus with the ACT I feel as though they don’t give you enough time to complete it, also science isn’t really my strongest subject. Everyone has there own strengths and weaknesses. Some may take the ACT and score better on the SAT or some may take the SAT and score better on the ACT it would depend on the person. I took the SAT on June 4 and I liked it a lot better than the ACT. The only thing I didn’t like about the SAT was the grid problems but other than that I found it to be a bit easier than the ACT. I don’t really know how people score so well on the ACT. The highest I’ve scored on the ACT is a 16 composite score and whenever I take it I don’t seem to do well on it.

I took ACT and SAT, got 36 and 2400, both on 1st tries. ACT was easier for me, but colleges don’t care which one you take. Now, because the SAT is new, you run the risk of doing poorly on it purely because you don’t have a lot of prep material for it, etc. Thus, I suggest you take the ACT and forget about the SAT.
