A few of my friends went on an SMU visit today, and they said the administrations rep said that SMU really wanted results for both the SAT and ACT. I was a bit surprised by this, because I hadn't planned on taking the SAT. I got a 2250 on my SAT and figured that would be enough. Are all colleges like this? Should I got and take the ACT now?

I’m not sure, but I think that colleges care more about the ACT than the SAT. Both are important, but I think the ACT carries a bit more weight.

^
Why do you say that?

Most top schools consider the SAT>ACT.

“because I hadn’t planned on taking the SAT.”
Do you mean ACT?

Thats what I meant, sorry.

In the rare case that a college will accept both but give preference to one, I’m pretty sure they give the SAT more preference vs. the ACT, at least from what I know (then again, I don’t know much).

If a school says they accept both and weigh both equally, they will do just that. If they say they prefer one over the other, they will do that. If they say they want both, they want both… I would take a few practice tests and see how you do. If they don’t murder you, I don’t see why you shouldn’t at least take a shot at the ACT.

Well, it’s obvious I know jack about college applications. Guess dear ol’ sis didn’t really know what she was talking about :/
