ACT & application deadline

If I am a senior and I am applying to schools with the deadline of January 1, can i send in a previous ACT test score and retake the ACT in February and then also send in that one? will it count? or should i not bother?

You need to send prior score to have your application deemed complete and considered to have been timely filed. As to Feb test, it depends on college. For any college, once your file is complete you can attempt to update your file with new info including new test scores. However, many colleges simply will not use Feb ACT because it won’t get there in time (decisons on your file will be made before it can arrive); however, some say it will be considered if it arrives on time.
