ACT April 10, 2010 Official Math Thread

I also put 11. I just did 25-6-8 like WiscoKid did. idk if that’s the correct answer though

@anotherindiankid: Ok the Elm Street problem stated that out of the 25 buildings there were 10 buildings that had fewer than 6 rooms, 10 rooms that had more than 7 and 4 rooms that had more than 8.

This question required that you find the total number of 6, 7 and 8 rooms. We can immediately disregard the 10 rooms that have fewer than 6 so we’re left with 15. Then, we can eliminate the 4 rooms that have more than 8 and we’re left with 11 rooms.

Oh, I think I messed up on the numbers. I just subtracted the 10 and the 4 i think, but it’s still 11

ok thanks guys

for the F(g(x)) question

was 4 an answer choice?

and if it was, wouldnt it be the first one (A/F)?

oh one more question…

how many can you miss on the math to get a perfect score on the math section?

Did anyone notice how the word hierarchy was bolded in the science passage for reading? It may have just been my form (88G), but I was definitely not expecting that.

it happened on my form too uhm something like 68G i think…

It sounds like there honestly wasn’t any difference on any form…

@Blebbing…Yeah that was really weird. It caused me to circle it, and of course a question about the series group in the same paragraph came up. Perhaps luck or perhaps chance? It helped though =)

although it was bolded and it came up in a question i didnt choose that answer because i didnt think it was the main point of the passage

Well, it was interesting because that word (hierarchy) wasn’t even referred to in a question.

I mean you had to go back to that part though. There was a question that asked for the 2nd step in a series grouping or whatever, and it was like 1 or 2 lines beneath hierarchy. But it’s also possible the ACT is trying to send us a message lol

I guess you could count the first question, but yeah, the main idea was to delineate between the two types of classification systems.

does anyone know how many you can miss on the math section to get a perfect score on it

Why did ACT portray Hank Williams as gay IE the pink Cadillac and the white cowboy? I’m pretty sure he was straight, at least to my knowledge.

lol i didnt even know who he was

The one with the book reading. He read 1/12 the first three days, and I got he reads 3/20 the last 5. Anyone?

Yesss. 9/12 divided by 5 days = rate = 3/20

Gay didn’t even come to my mind when I read it. What’s wrong with the white cowboy hat? Pink Cadillac - ehh, but I wouldn’t get worked up over it.
