Alright, I called Cornell up today and heard from a woman that the college is looking for ACT scores at or above a 32. However, collegeboard says the mid 50% is 28-32, and I of course have a 28. Then I asked if they superscore, and she didn't know. So first of all can 28's get into CALS, and second do they superscore?

if you actually got this info from an admissions person, why would you want to ask an anonymous random person who doesn't work in admissions?

well, let's just say she didn't sound like she knew what she was doing... and a 32 minimum for Cornell seems a bit high

I would be very surprised that anyone in the admission office would give out that information.

she gave out a lot of info., that's why I questioned the whole thing. Oh well, you either get accepted or you don't.

grantorue- I can relate with you on the whole Cornell employee "didn't know what he/she was doing" thing. 28 does put you in the range, but then again, its in the lower 25% of admitted applicants- minorities, economic status, athletes, legacy, employees' children. I'm not saying all those applicants fall in the lower 25%, but the people with the hooks and lower ACT/SAT scores generally do.

thank god I'm hispanic/first gen. :)

bump...... I would say 10char but I have no idea why everyone says that.

I'm not completely sure either but I have a feeling it's due to the fact that you can't post a message with less than 10 characters....

Anyway, CB's stats are not accurate. They're still using the numbers from the HS class of 2006. Applicants in 2007 were more competitive since there were more applicants applying for virtually the same number of spots. I would hazard guess that the ACT range went up (29-33ish or so) and it's probably going to be even higher this year. A 28 may not look as impressive now as it did 2 years ago.

However, your URM status coupled with the fact that you're a first generation college student will definitely make up for your ACT score. My 35 is off the charts for Cornell, but since I'm a somewhat uninvolved Asian and both my parents have college degrees, my chances of admission are less than spectacular.

they dont superscore.

It's not like a college to disclose cutoffs...

"they dont superscore."

i called ilr and they said they did...although i did get a lady who really didnt seem to know what she was talking about

btw-anyone know what the act range is for ilr?

Based on the information in the link above, the ACT score range for ILR was 26-31. Keep in mind that these are stats from 2 years ago and it is likely that numbers from last year's class were higher.
