So, I have already taken the ACT twice and scored a 31 composite (English: 36, Reading: 32, Math: 29, Science: 28). After taking the second it didn’t change my superscore.
I have a 3.98 GPA and solid extracurriculars/AP/IB scores, but I am worried my score is going to be the “what happened” in submitting my applications. Honestly, standardized testing is not my strong suit. I don’t think I am going to retake it, but I was just hoping for feedback on what the role of standardized test scores in applications are.
My dream school is WashU and I know their bracket falls within 32-34, so I am a little frustrated at myself.
How much are you prepping for your ACT?
Looking at your scores it seems that science is the weak link. Have you taken the SAT? You may well find you can get a better score on that test. The ACT is very tight on time. The SAT has a much more generous allowance for that. I think you would be a good candidate to do better on the SAT. Try a few practice tests and see how you do. Honestly, 31 is not going to help you at Wash U, so if you really want your best chance, try the SAT.
I may try that! Funny enough, I did really well on science on all my timed practice tests so I was a little surprised at my results when they came back. Must be the time crunch.
