ACT composite ok, essay sucks

Hello CC, first time making a thread.

I'm a junior and took the ACT in Feb: 33 Composite but 6 on the essay.
soo 6 seems oddly low when I did well on other sections, especially considering I got 10 on the SAT essay (2120 total). Will college admissions look at it negatively? Or do they only see the composite score? I plan on taking SAT for the 2nd time in May and ACT in the fall. Supposedly if neither scores improve, which one should I send in with my applications?

Look at the Common Data Sets for the schools you are interested in to see if they consider the ACT Essay in their admissions decision. Many don’t. Doing this helped us move past it when my D had the same issue. FWIW, she was accepted to her first choice school, even though her essay score (6) was well below their average.
