ACT composite same, higher and lower section scores. Help?

Last April I took the ACT and got:
29-composite score,
28-English,
30-Math,
30-Reading,
28 in Science.

I took the ACT a few weeks ago in September and got:
29-composite,
30-English,
25-Math (this came as a huge disappointment and I have no idea how I did so poorly),
34-Reading,
27-Science

I don't know which score to send in (ie: applying UC's and you can only pick one test date).
I'm planning to study Cognitive Science or Psychology, if that helps.
Thank you.

Personally, I’d send April. Your lower 28 English score is above or closer to the 75th percentile for the UC’s but the lower 25 in math puts you below or closer to the 25th percentile for almost all of them (outside the newer UC’s like Riverside and Merced.) Obviously, the UC’s are different with very different levels of competitiveness but when you line them up, your April scores seem a better choice.

Or, you CAN send both sets of scores. You won’t get dinged for sending both. They just don’t superscore. They say they will only use the one with the highest composite. Since it’s the same, I suppose it would be in their court as to which set to use.

A composite of 29 is a decent score for all the UC’s though. I’m not an admissions officer so I can’t say with any real certainty but don’t beat yourself up!

Wow our scores are really similar.
June:
29 Composite
33 English
27 Math
31 Reading
25 Science

September:
29 Composite
34 English
27 Math
30 Reading
26 Science

I would say to send both. But if you REALLY only want to send one; send your April one. The scores are much closer and show more consistency (even though you did much better on the English parts for the September one).

Alright, thank you both! I don’t know if sending the sept. score would make me look bad at math and make it seem like I got lucky in April, but whatever. Thanks for clearing it up a little bit :)

Send both. They will look at the best scores.
