Took the ACt 1st time with writing amd got a 28. second time I took it woithout wiriting and got a 29, this works out to be a 30 composite socre... but I have heard recently schools don't accpet the ACT w/o writing, is this true, will they accept the compostie if I took it once?

Schools want ACT with writing. Also, I'm not sure of the validity of a composite ACT score.

You should call up the schools that you are considering applying to and find out.

any other suggetions?

I think most schools are requiring the writing portion. I think that if they were taking ur best score from each section they might count those scores from the test without writing, but i dont think as many take all the best subscores and add them together for the act as they do for the sat. I would contact the admissions office at the school ur interested in and ask them.

I thought that the writing score wasn't included in your composite, so wouldn't that mean that the two parts aren't "connected?" So as long as he has taken a writing portion for the ACT, they would just use the better composite and the writing score from the other test?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't actually taken the ACT.

the majority of schools take the best ACT test -- as a whole. very, very few schools "superscore" the ACT (which means to take the best individual score from separate sittings of the test).

Many schools do require that the student take the ACT with writing -- but not all.

You should definitely just call the school and ask them about it.
