the prep books that I have for the ACT say that you add up the four subscores and divide by four. Is that really how they do for every test? Is it true that if you miss 3 on a section you get a 32 or 31?

Of course they add up your four sub-scores, what else would they do, add up three of them and divide by four. It depends on which one test you are talking about, reading and science, if you miss about three, it will be around a 32 or 31. Math and English you can miss a couple more.

Jerod

math...minus 3 is 34
english...minus 3 is 33
reading minus 3 is 33
idk for science...but the curve is usually 'harsh' by SAT standards...not alot of double ups on the higher end

yeah that scares me, makes me realize how incredible this girl is at my school for getting a 36.

I've heard that it depends for science. Sometimes -1 is a 35 but sometimes its a 34. 36=all right.
