Wooo essay score of 10 is solid. Especially considering I didn’t finish my essay. Pls share any comments left on yours as it can help everyone for a future test

My comment was: Your essay showed recognition of the complexity of the issue by addressing counterarguments.

I haven’t been able to see my scores online yet for the December test…

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

8 on the essay:(

I received an 8 and did not finish.

Your essay adequately supported general statements with specific reasons, examples, and details. Your essay maintained focus on the specific issue in the prompt.

11 on the essay

“General statements in your essay were well supported with specific reasons, examples, and details.”

Got a 10… Again

Pretty crap score, so I’ll retake in Feb with more studying. I’m really disappointed in myself.

@alexissss your score isn’t crap! Anything >30 is awesome!

@alexisss your score isnt crap! Anything above 30 is awesome!

But I know it’s not my best work! Especially science! I don’t even know if I’ll have money enough to retake. I still have to retake my subject tests. :

^ Fee waivers are your best friend.

I’m a gap year student. I can try for fee waivers, but they’re pretty hard to get, especially for a Sunday test taker. I got one for subject tests so maybe I can do it again. We shall see, lol.

Essay 10

Quite literally the worst ACT I’ve ever taken. I didn’t finish any of the sections. It’s okay though, it was my first time and I’m taking it again in February. And they granted me extended time, which I didn’t have on this one.

how/why did they grant you extra time?

Improved my composite by 2 points so that’s good. Actually regressed on the English section, but it would’ve taken a perfect score on it to raise my composite so not mad.

I haven’t either…mine’s never taken this long before…

@msabbagh13 “how/why did they grant you extra time?”

Why: The technical reason is, “anxiety and depressive-like symptoms.”

How: I have extended time in school, because of the above reason, and because my processing speed is rather slow in comparison to my IQ. (80 compared to 130ish) Because I have extended time, the school applied for such with the ACT and CollegeBoard. Originally both rejected me, because they didn’t think my anxiety was “disabling enough in everyday life.” I decided to appeal with the CollegeBoard, mostly for extended time on the AP Test and SAT IIs (I’m not taking the SAT.) On a whim and since the form is the same, I decided to appeal to the ACT as well. As part of the appeal, my teachers had to write recommendations. And my sophomore year Chem teacher wrote one about how, among other things, my anxiety is so debilitating that I often cry when I see open doors (which is true.) I suppose they found that rather convincing that my anxiety was “disabling in everyday life.” Either way, I still haven’t heard back from the CollegeBoard, but in the meantime, I don’t exactly mind the extended time with the ACT.

very interesting sam. my anxiety faded with age but i remember when i was 8 i had very similar symptoms when my mother was late to pick me up from school haha. anyways good luck with the extended time!
