ACT Dec 2012 predicted/ actual scores

My score:

32 C (31.5. I was happily surprised. I was thinking I would probably get a 30 or 31 due to math issues.)
33 E (This was upsetting. I had scored 35s and 36s on all of my practice tests, so this confused me. It’s still a good score, but I’d like to major in Journalism at NYU… so…)
28 M (Yeah. This needs work.)
34 R (Surprising! I thought I did well, but English has always been my best score. This really made me happy.)
31 S (I had scored 30-32 on all of my practice tests, and this is pretty much what I was expecting.)
9 Writing (didn’t finish)

Overall, I’m pretty happy with my score. I’m not sure if I’ll take it in February… I know I’ll take it again in April for sure. Do you think the writing score is that important? Is a 9 good or bad? I know I’ve seen some people groping about a ten… I didn’t prepare for the writing at all, just kind of went with it and hoped for the best.

Also, what do you think the English curve was? My subscores were 18 and 16, but obviously, I don’t know how many I got wrong.

English curve must have been pretty weird. I had 18/18 but ended up with 35 overall

Oh and writing is not very important. If you get an 8 or better, you’re good. But I’m sure you can bump it to a ten in Feb/April

Has anybody else still not gotten their writing score? :/

Haven’t gotten mine.

@karatekid666 Me too. I think that one question wrong in usage/mechanics (or maybe the other one…) still counted as an 18

Four wrong in English was a 33

This was my first time taking the ACT, and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t study, I just wanted to see what I could get without preparing at all.

C: 31
E: 34
R: 35
S: 30
M: 26 ← Definitely need to work on that. At the time, I hadn’t had a math class since May, so I was a bit rusty there.

Writing I got a 09. Overall I’m happy, but I will definitely be studying hard to try to raise it up a few points.
