ACT: Deceptively Easy?

Hey,

I have never taken a full length ACT before, but I have casually done several questions in the booklet that you get from guidance.. and I notice that the questions are pretty simple and straightforward. I did math questions from the very last problems (I am not sure whether they order it from easiest to hardest) and almost every one I did I got right (did like 15 questions).

Is this ease a deception? Is the real administered test much harder? Is it probably the short time limit that really gets most test takers and makes the test hard?

Note, I am only in precalculus now (and in June I got a 570 Math, though I know I can reach a 700, but I screwed up this last test date).. I notice its 60 questions for 60 minutes, so one minute per question, though I assume there will be many which could be finished in 15 seconds like in the SATs, leaving you with more time?

What do you guys think/

Yes, DEFINITELY the time constrainment is what hurts most people. For me, I can get through the math and english sections pretty quickly. It's the science and readign sections where I always end up guessing on the last few. Remember, with ACTs, every problem you miss can bring down your score (depends on the curve). Usually every question wrong on the science can bring you down 2 points, so if you miss two, you'd get a 32/36 which is like a 700 on the SATs.

Time and the curve matter seriously in ACT.. BTW I am a bad ACT taker..

Much less tricky than the SAT. I thought the SAT was easier and scored far lower.

Yeah, it's the time. You NEED to take a full length practice under the actual time constraints to get the real picture of the evilness of the ACT!
